Lost wages benefits in Minnesota fall into four categories:
1. Temporary Total Disability Benefits (TTD)
2. Temporary Partial Disability Benefits (TPD)
3. Permanent Total Disability Benefits (PTD)
4. Permanent Partial Disability Benefits (PPD)
Temporary Total Disability Benefits
In Minnesota, if you are injured in an accident at work and are unable to return to your regular work duties or due to restrictions cannot find work you are entitled to temporary total disability benefits. You will receive wage loss benefits at 2/3 of your average weekly wage. Minnesota law has a limit of 104 weeks for this benefit. TTD benefits will also stop 90 days after the injured worker has reached maximum medical improvement.
Temporary Partial Disability Benefits
Temporary partial disability benefits are paid to an employee injured on the job that has gone back to work, but is not earning the same weekly wage that they were at the time of the injury. These wage loss benefits are paid at 2/3 of the difference between the worker’s gross weekly wage at the time of injury and their current actual earnings. There is a limit under Minnesota law to 225 weeks of partial disability benefits during the first 450 weeks following the work accident.
